Free Art Fridays

quicky paintings in oil on canvas board

These two little portraits are just a couple of the ones I will be leaving around town for July. I am thinking I will need to put them higher and make it more difficult for the kids to reach. It seems our free art fridays has become a scavenger hunt for kids, but our work is meant for adults to enjoy taking too.
For June I left these in various spots around town.

Ahem. I would be very proud if I could slave over a piece and it came out as good as your "quickie paintings"! Just out of interest, what size are they?

I love your cow! I think it's amazing how you can turn any old piece of junk into a piece of art. I'm having a go at that myself - we had an old PC that I have taken apart. It was like a treasure chest inside! I just don't know what to do with all the pieces yet though!

You are awesome.

Take Care

Fantastic! I think you have just inspired me to get off my butt and take a more active part in art around this town. I just complained for a few years now and realize after blogging with you that things change. Imagine-kids seeking out an art prize. Pure inspiration you are.

this such a great idea.
Is this publicized for the tourists?
How do people know it's free art or something that shouldn't be messed with? Do you sign the pieces?

Art Friday sounds really cool. Love the so called "Quickie" portraits. Wish I could do that.

ah, thanks undaunted :) What size, I think they are 4"x5", small. It is so much fun taking an old PC apart.

Thanks Michael, Bill we have been having fun with it, but I do feel it is becoming a wee bit predictable. THe charm of found art is that it is the unexpected. So we may change our strategy a wee bit.

thanks for dropping by connie and leaving a comment :)

Marcia, yes it is a collaboration with the chamber of commerce efforts to draw tourists to the town and advertized. We put little tags on each piece that states it is free art.

ah, but Linda you can do quickie things with watercolour that I couldn't do in a lifetime. So we are even, so there lol! Thanks for dropping by.

all the best everyone :)
I love the paintings! Free Art Fridays make me want to come to Yellow Springs.

Grace and I have looked but you are so right...the charm is in finding the totally unexpested! So, from now on, we will just go about having a lovely day and then, if we find something wonderful, it will be such a thrill!
We wanted to come this weekend but hope to this coming week. WE always love it.
We missed the street fair due to being in DC and we MISSED being there! Boo Hoo...

I so love your work. You are a priceless work of art yourself you know!

Love,
Sue

Happening on either of those portraits or that white shrine against the red bricks or that wonderful long-horned assemblage--well, that would make my day!
