Hello: I still have to do laundry
I still have to do laundry, wash the dishes, bath the dog, update the arts council blog,
and
pluck me eyebrows
and then there is art making to do
for the Jafagirlart Doll ExhibitI am Mother
Time to Nurture
the seeds of creation
to stitch, to sew, to paint
I had so much doing this doll for Found Art Project. Somehow she ended up being adopted by the Emporium a couple of years ago.
I bought her for 50 cents at a garage sale, painted her, used a marker to do the patterns and then covered her with a resin glaze.
I found this cool exhibit for those into dolls
What a Doll!
"Through the metaphor of the doll,
contemporary artists tell stories,
explore fetishes, and analyze taboos".
A knit without a knot
Due to time constraints Rhod Sharp from BBC Radio Show "Up All Night" could only interview one of us, so Nancy sat by while I blithered on. Haven't a clue what I said. I was so flipping nervous I felt like I was like a ball of wool and coming unraveled, but apparently I made sense (phew!)

The dolls are fabulous. I love that you transformed a 50-cent baby and subsequently she found a proper home.
I like your mother doll. It reminds me of a picture you did of yourself. Is it you?
you're getting some great coverage and exposure in the media....congratulations...the tree looks wonderful...
love the patterns on the doll...they remind me of the body art you see on the islanders of the Pacific..:)
margaret, I just knew YOU would love the dolls.
You sound like a delightfully naughty boy lol and much like my husband. He loved comics too, mainly tin tin, tom mix, and he used to read the brit comcis beano etc.
I haven't even tried to listen undaunted, but my husband tried and gave up. Oh yes, the mother doll is me :) I made her last year, she is a wish doll and I hid all my wishes insider her.
Kim, yes I had great fun with the 50cent doll, she was so adorably ugly too.
ugh lone beader, chores get in the way of being famous too, I mean really I have to answer my own door and telephone lol!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had trouble listening to it! I had to download real player. I got my days mixed up too - I was listening to Monday's thinking it was on Monday night, forgetting that it was actually 1am Tuesday morning! (Which seems like the middle of the night to me)
Thanks for the link to the doll exhibit. I bookmarked it for later to share with my summer clay classes. I'm going to be teaching a mixed media doll class and a marionette class. Should be fun.
cynthia, you will enjoy exploring the exhibit I think. I wish I was taking one of your classes.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work!
So what is the next project?
Dolls. We have a Doll show in June, we have to work on the ChamberPot Gallery, Arts Council stuff, and keep working on free art fridays.
so it is back to doing what we love to do, ART and MORE ART :)
If you JAFAs are interested, there's a brief plug on my blog of a print exhibition.
:)LOL
Love the dolls, love the tree, Congrat's on all the press! Whoo-Hoo!
I tried to find and listen to your interview...couldn't do it, but I am sure you were great.
It was very nice to get away for a week with no internet, radio, tv or newspapers.
I am with you Dinah, never been much for dolls, so here I am doing a doll show. go figure LOL!
The Find Free Art Fridays is to help support the Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce 3rd Friday Fling. We are not sticking to a theme for it. Before we did Find Free Art Fridays, we were leaving found art anyway, we just decided to concentrate it on that day. I love Rosa Murillo's Found Art Tuesdays and I hope to get back to doing that in the near future.
