Portrait Painting on Wood
I don't have my camera, so I am posting a painting I did several years ago. This is oil on wood and an early experiment in painting on wood. It was a scrap piece of wood and I used a glazing technique (using liquin-a non yellowing medium for thinning oils). I won first place in the 2003 Springfield Museum of Art Members Exhibit, which was very encouraging. Don't we all need that little boost now and again :) Since then I have really enjoying learning to paint on a variety of woods, or wood composite supports (currently mdf, which is high density and moisture resistant).
October art stroll is coming together, and because having a street art themed event in the senior center great hall doesn't sound very hip I came up with a name and we decided to call the room "the hip joint" for the evening :)
We are going to have live music, video/slide show with pics of found art, graffiti, tag, posters and sticker art.
Saying of the Day: When it rains, why don't sheep shrink?

Good luck with the Hip Joint.
Anyhoo, you did a great job! :)
Getting recognition in that way must be good for the soul.....
This is one painting I decided to keep as I enjoy it. Thanks for dropping by everyone.
I'm still trying to figure out the sheep saying.
It is so wistful.
I love it and agree it is a Winner!

Will it be hip enough for a communal spliff?

eek I'm sorry you don't have your camera, are you going to get it fixed or buy a new one? I always try to remember to put the wrist strap on when I use mine but I'm usually in a hurry and don't do it.
Lyn, I am getting a new one for my birthday in a couple of days, and you can be sure it will be in a padded camera case or a padded bag.
hmbt you envy MY talent, like you haven't got any of your own :) thanks though, I appreciate that.
glad you not a snort (excuse the pun) out of the "hip joint" hee! hee!
Take Care
