To My Son

Do you remember this picture your sister drew? From my dairy entry Feb 24th 1991. Who would have guessed we would be there again :(
Without getting too soppy or sentimental I just want to say thankyou for serving your country. I can't tell you how proud I am of you. My thoughts are with all those who are in uniform, past and present, and for their families.

Thanks, that means alot to me.
I forgot all about that picture. Has it really been 15 years?

JB, I didn't know your son was serving in the military.

He should know that you're part of a bigger, stranger family now, through your blogging, WC, and other stuff. As part of that freakily-extended family, I'd like to express my appreciation and respect, too.

Thank you!

He just finished serving his 5 years, so this is our first memorial day together as a family.
thanks w.j.
I just saw your animal of the day, I love red pandas, I'm going to go and see some soon up on the southwest coast of scotland!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, it's great to have another geordie reader even if you are quite far away!

I love your animal pictures of the day too. That marmoset was kind of freaking looking though! It has little human looking face :O

Thank you Adrian. Jafabrit, you have done well to raise a son who would make such a commitment.

Mandy-I never saw red panda until a few months ago on tv and was captivated. I would love to see one for real.
lyn-you're right that marmoset is very strange looking creature. I wouldn't mind incorporating it into a painting.
w.j-I think we are all still recovering from "too much food" syndrome lol! It was a lovely day though.

Isn't it wonderful to be able to look back at things our children have done in the past?
I'm so glad your son was able to come home safely to you.

Hi margaret,
yes I think our children always have ways of suprising us, intriguing us. It is a journey I wouldn't have missed for the world (even if it meant a few more grey hairs.)

I'm so glad to hear that your son is back home and able to spend time with you! I'm an army brat and know well what sacrifices service people make.
I also love his drawing. I have boxes of my daughters that I can't seem to part with.

Hi cynthia,
Like you I couldn't part with many of the kids artwork. I either photographed them and threw them away, saved them in a special folder,or made painted copies of them.

I have a whole drawer full of my daughter's art and it's priceless to me. She's turning 20 this August, boy time flies!

lyn, I love kids artwork, not just my own. Yes time flies. Sometimes all those years seem like a dream or the occasional nightmare ;) lol!
