Trusting your Muse

In the Tag "The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration. " Frida Kahlo

That's how I feel! Like the eye in my sketchbook lol! all googly eyed! Not sure what the heck I am doing or why. I am stuck on wool and knitting, and bits and bobs, and sloooooooooowly starting two dolls for the JafaGirl Doll Show in June. Sometimes I think she just wants to be a bitch and mess with my head. My muse must have a reason for all this, but for the life of me I can't figure it out LOL!
But maybe I shouldn't try, think too much can be dangerous you know.

As for marketing, oh piffle! I say at the beginning of the year to heck with it and what happens, everything I seem to be doing fits with marketing. Never say never, huh! Linda Blondheim at Art Notes said to think of it in terms of connecting to the public. If there is one thing I do enjoy is connecting to the public either by sharing little bits of free art, or talking to people. Hanging around the KnitKnot tree is a blast and if I could I would build a little tree house and move in.THANKYOU

I was thinking how nice it would be to be invisible to everyone, but now that I've given it more thought I'd prefer it if everyone was invisible to me! (as long as they're not about to hit me or something - having a visual in such circumstances would definitely be a bonus)

I know the feeling...as I've often thought of getting one of those professional makeover jobs done but I think living up to the image would be simply too hard.....
I love the image of your daughter with the bird Corrine..
glad you got your bunny back...I was sure I left a comment on that post...it must be on someone elses blog :D
My problem getting my art "out there" is that I have extreme paranoia from having a form of schizophrenia and bipolar. I'm the typical crazy artist I guess.

I think that I'll start a blog just for my art and hope that helps. I guess though in the end I'm not too worried about making money from my art.

I do it for myself and if I get some money then great but it sure would be nice to make a little more!!! Hehe.

Speaking of paranoia, I'm starting a new painting about that subject and it's look good so far--better then I picture in fact. I love when art does that!! I'll post pictures of it.

Cheers!!

On aging- maybe we can tough it through to 80 where we can be cool and wrinkled like Georgia O'Keeffe.

On painting- the best way to stop having fun is to try and figure out if people will buy my stuff, it's also the quickest route to the funny farm.

If you ever figure out how to photoshop yourself and walk around that way, please let me know. I'd love that, too.

Great art. You're truly talented.
I'm afraid of my muse. LOL.

My Muse must be in a bad mood, because I can't seem to get anything straight this last week. I mean I've had the flu and all, but shheeesh! I've not been doing much either...I hope this week is better.

Marketing...argh! Seems I'm doing the same thing, I said I wasn't going to worry about it and I am still doing it daily. I am selling a lot of art, and that's good, but holy cow, I wanna get back to just painting someday. That'll never happen I guess, unless someone "discovers" me.
If you figure out that photoshop thing, you won't need to worry about marketing anymore, you'll be rich and famous! :)

lol undaunted, now that would be nice.

oh Kim I think that would be exhausting. I think I will just have to get used to it and let my personality be so shagadelic they don't notice the shagged out look hee!hee!

James, sometimes putting your work out there is so darned scary. As for money, it is nice when it happens (covers the cost of supplies, paint). Basically though I gave up the idea of being able to make money. Which is why I just do what the heck I want irregardless, which is very freeing.

emm, I don't mind the cute old look, but the shagged out look isn't too cute ARG! LOL!

thanks for dropping in Ashley, I will share if I figure out the photoshop thingy lol! for a small fee of course ;)

Lone beader your muse has been on a brilliant tangent but I can see why you fear her LOL!

woo hoo, wouldn't that be something HMBT, well the rich part, I would skip the famous.

"If I could just photoshop myself..."

This is a good one!

Maybe Linda is on the right path by changing the semantics of the word marketing. Marketing seems like such a chore - but connecting with other people a lot more fun & friendly to boot.

BTW, I like your new banner.

PS. Some of the members of the potter's guild where I am now a memeber are in their 80's and 90's and they look fabulous. I credit this and their demeanor to staying active in something they love. 50 years down the road, I wonder if I'll fare as well.

Yea, I know what you're saying, so here's to growing old gracefully- I think I need a muse for that.

Like the music:)

Your knit knot tree is brilliant; I wonder if you can knit yourself a little cottage next to it? Or maybe a tree house?

My muse is very particular, and if things are not according to her liking, she just sits and yawns, picking at her nails. And complains that we don't have enough chocolate, and that I really need to clean it up around here a bit.

Let me know what program works if you do photoshop yourself! Maybe you can do tutorials?

I can`t wait to see your dolls or... your muse`s dolls...
Anyway, I really want to see them.
I love Frida- was just looking at book that showed a photo of her with a pet fawn and on the opposite page showed her "the Little Deer' painting. I keep a couple of Frida icons on my work table for inspiration. Thanks for your blog to remind me why.
