From Taedēre to Taedium

In other words I am at the point of going rather bonkers and wondering why the heck I decided to stitch around the troll with tedious cross hatching-arg!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh! I remember why, because it has the kind of effect I want, messy. Anyway, it's part of a larger piece in my Narrative Dreads series and is a mixture of paint, hand embroidery and a feather. It's based on a painting I did with my left hand in my sketchbook. As I plod along wondering why I do this to myself I am reminded of the quote by Cecil Beaton.  "Be daring, be different, be impractical, be anything that will assert integrity of purpose and imaginative vision against the play-it-safers, the creatures of the commonplace, the slaves of the ordinary."
