Art is NOT a thing

Art is not a thing; it is a way
on nurturing and living your creativity
 on living an artful life.

Jibber Jabber
I haven't (for a couple of weeks) and won't be able to work on my art for another week or so and I feel the creep of rumbling agitation starting to gnaw at my bones like a dog with it's favourite toy.
It is starting to drive me

Meanwhile I do take comfort in and enjoy the art around me.

A shelf in my living room
lava lamp, pompous rabbit teapot, ceramic bowl, oil on wood portrait "smitten" ,ceramic hippo baring teeth, beater head by Lisa Goldberg, cat rattle by Leanne Pizio, papier mache angel, victorian deer inkwell.

AND

I'll be going life drawing today
That should keep the demon of discontent at bay for a wee bit.

I know how you feel! I haven't been able to be creative since the end of my 28 day challenge because I've been ill! I'm glad it came at the end though! All I can do is sit here and make lots and lots of plans! Planning projects, researching ideas, listing materials I'll need, choosing colours, even planning how my next exhibition table will look (which is 5 months away!)! lol, I have way too much time on my hands!!

So what's keeping you from your paints and threads?

I have volunteered to teach 3 classes for a hopsice childrens summer camp. Preparation and getting materials alone has been consuming my time.

Well that will definitely be worth the sacrifice of your creative time :)

I had to make a shift when my children were born. I had to relearn unlearn and then stop making one kind of art. Now I am making another. That shift in away became to identify and and my quest of creating something else a full time job. I have now found balance- I think- until the next speed bump- but until then I will keep doing what I am doing.
