Remembering

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

Ohh = that is a sweet, sweet poem - we too, here have red poppies, small paper ones, that people wear after making a small donation to the veteran that will be selling them in some public spot, like in front of the grocery store, dressed up and with badges from the war on - usually a gentleman quite advanced in age. I have become far more in touch with this holiday since my Dad, a war vet himself, fell ill and died.
Love your post - thanks for visiting

poppies resonate with so much emotion... of course the links to the fields of Flanders run red with the blood of two world wars, to honor veterans, but for me also love, fields of glowing wheat with bright poppies dancing at their edges, where I learnt about life and listened to the voices of the wind... and finally my husband, my veteran and a summer drive in England, of proposals accepted and a new life to be lived....

Corinne, I hope you all had a nice Memorial Day! Great post and I enjoyed that old-timey music too. My Dad, may he rest in peace, was a veteran of WWII. Lovely post!

Where has the time gone? Has it really been that long since I stopped by? Glad to see all the creative energy and all the fun stuff. I love your stitchery patterns makes me almost want to drag out a needle...

Actually I have brought out an old cross stitch that I started almost 25 years ago...oh my where has all the time gone?

I've been away for a week and wow, look at all the comments. lady P I miss seeing the veterans selling poppies and it was nice to know that when you bought one the money went to support the veterans. I think that was why I was so peeved with the "support our troops" stuff made in china and they had no meaning or merit for me. It sounds like it wasn't long ago you lost your Dad :(

Deb, sounds like a beautiful memory, and how wonderful you describe it.

Lynette, we had an impromptu barbie and it was a lovely day. I imagine yours was very special and especially
in thinking of your father.

Hiay Heather, lovely to hear from you, doing smashing.

Hiay Colette, time, hah!it flies by and it seems to go faster as I age arg!!!!!!!! what's with that huh! Nice to see you.

I didn't realize this, but I didn't credit the poem. It isn't mine. It is from the war.

shez I understand about the muse, works in weird ways, and one just has to go with the flow.
