I have heard it said that when an artist reuses an image it's because they've run out of ideas.
Maybe sometimes that is true, I don't know, but there is comfort in revisiting an old image. Sometimes it is because one loves an image and wants to explore how many ways it can be represented or reinterpreted.

It's like music - musicians play the same piece of music again and again, and feel a sense of fulfillment each time, but sometimes they vary it a little, depending on the mood at the time.
As listeners, we also like to hear the same piece again and again, and even like to hear different versions of the same song, even by the same artist. I like to see different versions of the same paintings too.
I thought about Georgia O'Keeffe and her many variations of flowers, skulls, and landscapes. Some may look similar to one another, but the variation of colors or elements give each a different "flavor".
And Frida Kahlo never got tired of painting her favorite subject, herself.
oh yes, georgia o'keefe and khalo marcia, and thank goodness they did that. So existing to see how many ways the same image can be explored and offer different meanings.
This particular image certainly lends itself to multiple means of expression - but it is YOU the artist who makes us see that. Hats off to you - awesome empathy you create with this one image of humanity
