New Skull Painting: WIP

Been working on a new skull painting. Did the grisaille yesterday and added flesh tones today. Finished the Basquiat one yesterday.

These are oil on mfd board that has been coated with a sealer, primer, and gesso.

I can see that these are evolving. Tough subject but you are doing well with it. Plus I cant' believe you are fast forward on noses. Any more body parts you want to pick on?
I love your colourful skulls!

These are lookin' good! When my honey gets home from work I'm going to show him...because he is obsessed with sculls. I really like these...lately I've been playing around with the scull image too.

Do you know or know of the Cleveland, Ohio artist Scott Radke? I bet you would dig his work. Check out his website here: http://www.scottradke.com/

Peace & Love.

So the top skull is Kahlo and the bottom one is Basquiat - is this a series on dead artists? If it is, I like the concept. Dead artist who died tragically - it would make a great series.

I see a series going on here too.

Just noticed the arms along the jaw on the Kahlo one when I zoomed in. Cool!

I agree, these are great. I didn't make the connection between dead artists and skulls until I read these comments, but I like the connection.

Kahlo was that Mexican female artist wasn't she? I recognised her in your painting! Woah, my artist knowledge is growing and I'm starting to impress myself! I'm just so useless with names though...

Thanks american genius, and I haven't seen The Happening yet. It sounds like I NEED to go see it, eh!

Bill, I think I will stick with noses for the mo, although nancy did do a caste of her feet.

Connie I checked the Radke link, wow, very cool stuff.

David, I seem to be headed in the direction :) I am really digging doing these.

Jan, I am so glad you like the arms along the jawline. I didn't want it to be too obvious, but just loved the idea of it.

Undaunted I just adore frida kahlo's work. I have been told "oh everybody does kahlo, everybody does skulls" but I am not everybody . WE do what we need to do eh.

thanks so much for all your comments, lone beader, kim, painter girl, shez. This is really great feedback.

hmbt, I will look forward to seeing what you do with skulls :)
