a BIG nose and Pusillanimous

collaborative nose by c.bayrak and n.mellon

It is made with impregnated plaster bandage, painted with acrylic and then coated with resin inside and out. The booger note says, "don't pick on me" . Not sure where it will go, but it isn't free art, so we have to be careful about placement.

BOOGER AWARD

Snotty People: A friend of mine encountered one of these the other day, a so called intellectual snob and bully, who called her pusillanimous and then said, "you do know what that means, don't you"? Now I don't know about you, but I didn't know what it meant, but I am always open to learning and people sharing unusual words. What I am not open to are people who try to make you feel intellectually inferior by using rare words that are not only insulting but then being snide about you not knowing it. So this man gets my "booger" award for being a snot.

I have seen the Voki on your blog, but never clicked on it. Fun! I will have to look into it.

Oh, I think the nose needs a hanky.

It sounds like he deserves that award! I used to be such a bookworm, and I've never heard that word. Bravo on the nose art.

Oh my goodness, I hate people like that so much. Funny that he should use that word in reference to your friend - I would say that he was the one who was behaving pusillanimously by hiding behind big words instead of using straight talk.

As for the nose - I don't know whether to laugh or cry! I thought it was a beautiful nose until I noticed all that hair sticking out and the big bogey! And are those black heads??

black heads were not intentional LOL!

I worked for ten years in an Art Museum....I know too well those "intellectual snobs" you are talking about. I've seen people miracuously over-night adopt an English accent without leaving the country! I've met people that insist the pronounciation of their name is French when it is something like Sandy and they go through all these pains to pronounce it differently. I have spent a ten minute conversation dodging name droppings like bombs...and realize when its over that the whole conversation was nothing except a chance for the person to exercise their ego. I've actually gone to a dinner party with Joseph Kosuth and he started smoking a cigar in a non-smoking establishment and when the management came over to tell him it was not permitted he responded with: "Do you know who I am?"....I was the only one brave enough at the table to burst out into uncontrollable laughter!!! (The bastard happened to find that charming about me, and wanted me to accompany him back to his hotel room...creepy, old, married man!! Noway). I can't stand those intellectual snobs...they are the ones that are pusillanimous, if you ask me...hiding cowardly behind their big words, long list of names, and inflated egos! Aaaaghh! Yes..they're just grown up bullies!

(Sorry you touched a bit of a sore spot, I guess.)

Peace & Love.

Oh my goodness Connie, I so hear what you're saying, and I haven't even been creating that long!

I went to an exhibition in a snobby little village not far from here. I loved one of the paintings on display there, but for some reason it didn't have any details on display with it. I asked the organisers about it and they told me the name of the artist and asked me if I would like to meet her when she arrived. I thought that would be great.

During the evening another artist starting talking to my friend Anita and said "Someone just asked who painted that piece over there! It's only painted by Lady Brussels!" Like everyone should know. (I've made that name up) So I butted in and said "Yeah, that was me" He continued "Don't you know Lady Brussels? She's the Lady of... big manor house... blah blah" like I should do obeisance to him just for knowing her.

Anita just replied with "Well I haven't heard of her either" Good girl!

So when she arrived I was quickly ushered in her direction by some creep on tip toes, and she didn't even remove her glove to shake my hand! We spoke briefly, and then she seemed to become suddenly bored and walked away while I was talking, and didn't even say goodbye!

I commented on it to one of the organisers and he started justifying her actions with "she's Lady Brussels..." to which I replied "Well, she doesn't seem like much of a lady to me!"

Love the nose - especially after I enlarged the photo and saw all the hair sticking out!

What a bore - and Brianna is a hoot.

I think people who use words like that to try and make people feel stupid are complete idiots. The whole point of successful, intelligent communication is to make sure both parties understand what is being communicated. To derail that on purpose shows malice and an inability to communicate successfully by virtue of that rendering the person an inferior communicator.

Tell Mr. Big Words to put that in his pipe and smoke it!!

That's funny - I still say this sounds like a Case for Hot for words;)

jan, oh now you have put the thought in my head of a hanky pole next to the nose pole LOL! I liked YOUR voki Jan :)

I would like to present it to him Robin but I am reluctant to even acknowledge him lol! Maybe I will sneeze into a snot rag and mumble pusillanimous.

connie, undaunted, I have worked in an art museum in New Jersey and have met similar types. I can certainly relate to your stories.

I think we are going to make another nose Chris :).

so often ckw kids are bullied at school and either the teachers don't see it, ignore it or dismiss it. sad!

Kim I hav a link on the blog entry I believe that says what it means, which is cowardly, weak.

Oh I am glad you like Briana cynthia lol!

thanks for your comments danny, I definitely agree.

The Vokis are so much fun and yours are the best!

We know a few dear folks like the ones you described...we used to have neigbors like that as well. Thye were always walking around with their collective noses in the air and using big honkin' words and degrading others. Giess who fled their home in the middle of the night with only what could be packed in the car? Uh huh...they were being foreclosed on and chased down by a dozen banks for skipping out on loans. I guess they did not know the meaning of LOAN.

Here I am rambling again...: )

Just wanted to catch up as we have been away for a bit. Hope you are well and I adore the nose. I love such things...: )

Love,
Sue

That nose is pretty cool. You'll have to forgive me, but at first glance I thought that was a tampon hanging out. *L*
