Evil Squirrels and a birthday in Georgetown
Man, those black squirrels in Georgetown have a real attitude LOL! but what a gorgeous squirrel, first time I have seen a black one. He stood his ground staring at me for a quite a long time. I thought he was going to go after me . Don't you just love his back legs.
Had a great trip to D.C. For my 53rd (sheesh time is flying by) birthday we went to Georgetown and ate at a Turkish restaurant called Cafe Divan. I got a wee bit palatic after sharing a bottle of Turkish wine, Kavaklidere.

Which explains why I seemed to have an inebriated urge to take a photo in the loo, lol! but heck I was so impressed with their netty (their food was outstanding by the way) and that cool mirror.
COMPETITION
Art News Blog had a link to an art competition, I thought what the heck, why not give it a go! If you have time check it out and tell me what you think.

Love that Squirrel.....stared you down, know's your a softie :)
great photo.
Happy Birthday girl! :)
I've never seen a black squirrel but he does look like he's in attack mode. :o
The squirrel does look cheeky. I have never seen a wild one, but they seem to do as they please around people.
Looking great. Welcome back.
These word verification letters are getting harder and harder to decipher lately.
I wanted to let you know that I have arrived safe 'n sound in Minnesota. (Thanks Nancy!)
And Double-D Thanks for letting me hang upon your beautiful tree!...it was truly an honor. :)
And for your birthday i would like to give you this...
God gave a gift to the world when you were born—
a person who loves, who cares,
who sees a person’s need and fills it,
who encourages and lifts people up,
who spends energy on others
rather than herself,
someone who touches each life she enters,
and makes a difference in the world,
because ripples of kindness flow outward
as each person you have touched, touches others.
Your birthday deserves to be a national holiday,
because you are a special treasure
for all that you’ve done.
May the love you have shown to others
return to you, multiplied.
I wish you the happiest of birthdays,
and many, many more,
so that others have time to appreciate you
as much as I do
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Corrine
I found this poem on the web (duh') it's not mine (hehe) but i hope you like it...

Chronicles of Trisna
I'm not quite sure I've ever seen a black squirrel either - it almost looks like it got caught in an oil spill or something.
Your pizza box rocks!
And have you heard of the British squirrel wars? The American grey squirrel was introduced into Britain years ago and is displacing the native red squirrel. See: The Squirrel Wars

Of course the British have a lot to answer for, including such aliens as the English Sparrow and Starling, first released in Central Park. Of course not all British imports are bad... :-)
Sounds like a fun trip. Love the self-portrait.

yes jan what is it with word verification lately, yack! Hum those black one's seem much more aggressive than the red one's. The red one's are rather shy.
Lyn, I thought he would jump at me, so I back away after we stared at each other for a few mins.
Thanks olga, I see you are getting up to mischief in Minnesota :)
I wouldn't mind being 43 again loretta :) loved my forties.
You are lucky they didn't throw things at you David. The ones in my daughters yard harass us when we work in the yard or sit on the back porch.
Trisna, your poem is beautiful, thank you so much :)
Hope you had a great time.
xoxo
