This Art Life

My husband bought me this teapot 11 years ago in honor of my new found passion, art. I have about 35 teapots in my collection, and I use them all at some time or another. You see I LOVE tea, a strong cup of tea with milk and sugar. When I first came to America there were two things I remember specifically rejecting, paper napkins, and iced tea. Paper napkins I thought a waste of money, and iced tea because I thought it an absolute aberration. It took me 15 years to get used to the idea lol! WEll it wasn't that I was totally stubborn, the quality of the tea used back in the late 70's=80's was 'orrible. Nowadays there are so many choices and really good too, just don't serve me Earl Grey (YAK, can't stand the bergamot). Oh and tea made with microwaved water, double YAK!!!!!!!!! And what is my favourite tea? Ceylon. And for iced tea with lemon and mint I like Turkish black tea called Rize. How about you?

I never could just sit and watch telly without doing something, and so I stitched up a storm of worry dolls when I watched the movie "Perfume". I had read the book twice and couldn't imagine how they would translate it into a movie. I thought it the most strange and interesting story I had ever read, and the movie was no different. I think it really helped to read the book first to appreciate the movie, though.

I start every morning with several cups of Hojicha roasted green tea, straight, no sugar or cream. When I travel, I take it with me. No nuked water for me either. I put the tea bag in my coffee pot and run the water through the coffee maker. It keeps it warm as long as I want.

The smiley worry dolls don't look very worried. I like them the best.
Why don't you post some art balls on Etsy so others outside of Yellow Springs can buy some?

Ahh, I like Earl Grey. My tea has to be strong that's all I ask for. Well, anything with caffeine in it does the trick, upon first waking up.

I wouldn't know what to charge for them still waters? Do you have any suggestions? The art ball machine is a dollar but there is no guarantee they would get a doll. But for shipping and handling (which is added work for me) I am not sure?

ah, an Earl Grey kind of guy beaman :) Yes, that first cup of tea loaded with caffeine surely helps.

I love tea as well Corrine! I like Green Tea but with Honey.
I just love the worry dolls!
Adding art to your etsy store is an outstanding idea Corrine!
Seeing as how they are a piece of art I would charge No less then $5 but that's me.
I would ship Priority Mail with delivery confirmation because things tend to get lost in the mail. That way if they are lost, you can track them. I would charge $5 for small items in Canada. Shipping anywhere other then Canada would be an additional $2...just a SUGGESTION though. Many artist's charge differently. I hope this helps....

The esnips bird isnt dancing to tea for two.

How about offering a worry doll with a painting? Free worry doll with painting.

Not much of a tea drinker, tho I like my iced tea brewed and will drink whatever they serve at the Chinese restaurant.
I am a tea-drinker, too. I like plain black tea with milk-n-honey:)

Tea? Not theses days. I'm a coffee girl - strong and black.Sometimes, if I'm in town and rushing, I might add raw sugar. (Used to drink it like those old guys in the markets in Istanbul, but too many spoons melted!)
Pee Ess my doll will be on the blog soon!

I was raised on my mother's English tea rituals but I'm afraid I'm a bit of a philistine when it comes to variety: give me plain ol' orange pekoe, strong, with a bit of milk every time. My kids get their afternoon cuppa actually delivered to them wherever they are. Is that spoiled, or wot? Love the worry dolls. I like to draw while I watch TV but the light in here sucks ... or maybe it's my aging eyes.

We mostly drink green tea at home, but we add milk. I will have to post my childhood teddy bear on my site, seeing you posted your worry dolls.

Was thinking that maybe you should change the name of the dolls to Not to Worry Dolls.

lol! not to worry dolls :)

I usually supply a little blurb in each art ball that is relevant to the object inside. In the case of the worry dolls I have a note describing the legend about them.

Not sure about the etsy thing. Seems like an awful lot of bother for just a few art ball dolls. I might show them to a local store that already sells some of my decoupaged stones.

I glad there is another 'perfume' fan out there. I recently posted about the movie too and yes-the book must be read; it is superb and there is a lot that the movie has to leave out. Did you know that Kubrick bought the rights to the novel and decided it simply couldn't be made? Last night I watched 'Babel', I'm still thinking about it. A good book or movie will haunt me for days. The soundtrack is fabulous and of course Ryuichi Sakamoto contributed to it.
As for tea...only when I have to and only without milk unless I'm trekking and then a good cup of Chai is most welcome - don't hold back on the pepper or cloves. My husband spent five years in England schooling, and drinks his tea 'boarding school' style. Disgusting. More disgusting? My sons do the same. I started drinking coffee as a child. Real coffee, and simply cannot function without it. I take it any which way, whereever I am. Since our latest trip to Vietnam I am now drinking it Vietnamese style with condensed milk as I type. Monologue over, I going to watch the early morning hot air balloons.

Neither one of my kids will drink tea with milk or sugar. My daughter prefer black coffee, although she does like chai. I have never tried coffee with condensed milk. I used to love drinking condensed milk :). Maybe I will give it a try.

Babel was heartbreaking. I felt so sorry for the father of the two boys, his whole life ruined.

love your blog, love your art, love the songs and thinking Yellow Springs is oh so cute, but hate the earl grey, no bergamont for this old girl. But a delightful cuppa chai is wonderful or coffee with the sambucca.

I probably drink more coffee than tea, but I'm still a tea fan. At the moment I'm working my way through a huge box of bog standard supermarket tea brought back from this year's trip to the Lakes, but when it's done I'll be back to my normal regime of Assam in the middle of the day and Earl (love that bergamot!) Grey at teatime.

The worry dolls are so cute!! Are the smiley ones just worrying on the inside??!! Or are they trying really hard not to worry?!! :D

What a wonderful and unique teapot, I love it and your little worry dolls too J.B. I'm more of a coffee drinker but I love my iced tea and hot tea (with cream and sugar too) I've never tried Earl Grey, usually buy Liptons at the grocery. :P (I love condensed milk too!) Have you ever poured a little into canned peaches, it's really yummy like peaches and cream!

I've read Perfume twice too and am dying to see the movie.
I've got the soundtrack and love the music.
Apparently it translates well despite the inherent difficulties.
I would like to clutch a worry doll throughout, though xx

Not a tea drinker but I did watch Perfume yesterday. I loved John Hurt's narration, and the limited roles by Dustin Hoffman and Alan Rickman were delicious.

The movie (and I assume the book) was otherwise exceptionally creepy in a nonscary way.

And while I hadn't read the book I was still eager to see the movie, Tom Robbin's Jitterbug Perfume being one of my favorite books.

Sorry but I love a nice Earl Grey before bed. It seems to clear the mind. Soothe the body. Ease the spirit.
It also tastes damned good.

no need to say sorry ekim :) some of my best friends drink earl grey ;) Thanks for dropping in.

Strong Indian Lipton tea is good. By the way, that is a nice teacup.

thanks sunil, my husband prefers strong indian lipton or red label (no milk or sugar). Me I have to contaminate it with milk and sugar LOL! My daughter's current fave is chai, hot or cold.
