Pottering Around
This is a tiny portion of part of a larger project that the The John Bryan Community Pottery in Yellow Springs, Ohio is sponsoring, which "is a community-wide tile-making project!" Sometimes the arts council will have their meetings at the pot shop and as we talk biz we make a tile. I did the little blue good luck "evil eye" cockroach (that you can barely see) at the bottom. My second one is a dickie bird (of course lol!) which hasn't been fired yet. I can't wait to see the mural finished, because some of the ceramic tiles and peices are amazing. I have never really been a one for clay, but I have really enjoyed participating in a small way.
This is just something I am experimenting with. As I may have mentioned I have always loved hand sewing and embroidery, so integrating that along with painting isn't new.

I like the way you're incorporating words, painting and stitching! Of course I'm biased, but what can I say?
I was a little surprised to see your tile/clay work, given that you had previously mentioned that you didn't like touching clay. Very cool installation.
thanks angela, lyn, philip.
cynthia, I did't actually have to touch the clay much LOL! One of the women at the pot shop rolled out the clay and we just cut off however much we needed. I can't wait to see the whole installation up. It is going to be fantastic.
