Gannin Yem-Travel Journal Pages

I am hoping I can take my little journal on the plane. I am putting pics of home, family, recipes (texas ceasar salad -YUM) for mum and sis, and small sketches and observations as I travel. This is a photo of my back patio where mass quanities of tea are consumed and the mosquitos enjoy a bloody feast on my husband (they really seem to like his blood the best). Gannin Yem means going home and means the same in Norwegian. Here is some pictures at flickr of Newcastle/Gateshead created by JRStudio.

signing off so gan canney man ( take care)

What a lovely backyard! I can see that it would be a lovely place for tea.

I like the idea of taking a sketchbook with you as you travel. I hope that you have a terrific trip and that you catch up with your family. How long are you staying? Oh thanks for translating!

I also love your backyard (what a gorgeous place for tea) but I'm sorry those mosquitos like your husband. Those little flying vampires like the taste of my blood too, eek! JB I'm so happy you are going to visit with your Mom and sis and I hope you have a fantastic wonderful time there!! Happy "Gannin Yem" and we'll see ya when you're back!

Lovely backyard. Envious of the nice brick paver work. Have to admit I am surprised by the gazebo.

Interesting language site. Kind of reminds me of those Capital One commercials. Have always wondered about those English speaking Vikings. :-)

Have a good trip.

jan, why are you surprised by the gazebo?

Oh yes, the capital one commercials LOL! My fave is the gecko on geico, now talk about good branding :)

I guess I think of a gazebo as being somewhat mainstream. Not sure why -- maybe it is because of other people I have known who wanted/have them. I would be curious to know if you have painted the ceiling inside. :-)

My favorite Capital One commercial is the Pillage People. And I am not really sure why the gecko has an aussie accent -- but as many times as I have seen the commercials (they must be doing some good business), I could probably quote them word for word. Which brings to mind, wonder if someone may some day make a play out of them ala the Brady Bunch -- hmm sounds like a plan.

BTW, for your trip, bring along a prepackaged pacifier to give to unprepared parents. I know I wish they had had some on board this last trip home. Soon as we started to descend, a baby started crying the whole time. It was painful.
I love your patio and the way that you sketched around the photo. I am writing this as I consume my mass quantities of tea for the morning. It's a little warm this morning outside for hot tea.

I hope that you have a lovely and safe trip. We will miss your blog while you are away but I'm sure that you will be full of interesting things to blog about when you return. Trips always jumpstart my creativity.

Have a wonderful time in England! Maybe I will finally find time to read your blog from the beginning while you are away. I LOVE your transparent bag - someone will soon be manufacturing them but without that great button. I am wondering when they will have us all strip naked before we go in the airport doors? We were in an art show last weekend and I got some interesting pictures of stone art for you. Will try and post them to my site today but may not have time........happy travels!

Jan the gecko has a cockney (london) accent, but I am NOT surprised you thought it australian :) People often ask me if I'm from australia. I haven't painted the gazebo ceiling inside but I am going to put a crystal chandalier inside (when I get around to it-not sure why but I like the idea of things being out of context lol)that can't be a mainstream right ;)

still waters, the hot weather here (especially when we lived in Texas) really cramped my tea drinking habit. Took me 15 years to accept that iced tea was okay instead lol!

Hi betty, well we don't always have to time to read all the blogs on our list but I hope if you do have time to read mine you enjoy it.

Oh yes. A chandelier - DEFINITELY!

I knew you would set me right on the gecko accent.
