Faces

Oh this is driving me insane, I want a cup of tea, I wish I was finished with this bloody painting. why I bother I don't know, I am going to sand some of it away anyway. I give up and come upstairs to make a cup of tea and pout and I walk by this one at the top of my stairs on a box. Okay, not as good as this fellas, but hey I wasn't looking for it and it made me smile. Sometimes faces just pop up where you least expect them.

Alfreda she is looking wonderful sometimes you just got to take a break so you can see it again with fresh eyes. LOL what a cute little box 'face' love those eyes hehe!

Thanks. I know you're right, but ugh! sometimes some paintings just happen and you get spoiled. This one has just been a real challenge.

Are all your portraits as small? Once I saw your hand in comparison, I was suprised at the size of this one.

Yes, for the last couple of years most of my portraits range from 12"x12" to 3"x3".
I am incorporating them into assemblages so they become part of something larger.

I think your found face is as good as Dave Gormans.

I know what you mean about them being a challenge. I tried painting on one tonight and yuck is the feeling for now. I hope I can get an "ahh that's looking better" feeling the next time I paint on it. :)

Hey, I enjoyed sharing your state of artistic vexation, but the little portrait you're working on is really beautiful! Of course, the 'box face' isn't bad, either . . .
