and thank goodness I don't come across them too often in life or on line . I was going to just put text in the box but I saw a little drawing of an eye I had done lying on the studio table and wham! I wanted to try it with embroidery. Why "i hate bitches"? Don't know, just kind of popped into my head after I'd read a hateful snarky comment on the web somewhere.

I hadn't even brushed my teeth, brushed my hair. I read it in the paper and raced out the house like a blue arsed fly. whoosh! I HAD to find that garage sale with the mannequin before anybody else.
Spent a few days in Penn State College Town and enjoyed some of the murals and back alley art. I took this one not just because of the mural, but because the little skinny building and door on the side intrigued me, and I liked the design.
This was outside a tobacco store called "Your Cigar Den" in an alley off the main street.

I wanted to see if I could translate an image from my sketchbook into embroidery and of course bit off more than I could chew. The photograph of my resin painting "dead space" is complex and then add to that all the text above it, yikes! But, I'm enjoying the challenge.

Now I don't know what to do with it because what I thought I was going to do didn't quite work out. Now it is going to have to sit in my studio for a while until an idea hits me. I have learned one thing about myself, never pays to rush. Even though I feel guilty at times for seeming like a snail I am constantly reminded of why it is important for me to pace myself. Same thing happened with my last embroidery but I am much happier with the eye in the "ego contemno bitches" than what I originally planned.

It was fascinating and conjured up all sorts of images, scenes in life and in paintings, and memories too. It was a beautiful reminder of the fragility of life.

The fruit, the food looked so fresh you almost wanted to pluck it out of the picture, it made your mouth water. I forgot my glasses so I kept getting too close to the paintings to examine the brush strokes and getting told off, oops. Almost all the still life's were painted on the same wood table and you could recognize which part of the table based on the nicks in the wood.
I got a few odd looks from the drivers and other pedestrians when I stopped in the middle of the crosswalk to photograph the ground LOL!
