Happy Feet
My legs were slim back then, on that evening long ago dancing with my irish friend Althea. We were doing the bump to james brown in a disco called Grobs in Newcastle, England. I started dancing with this fella and by the time the evening was over Althea says in her thick irish accent, "you're going to marry him". I said, "don't be daft". Well here I am 31 years later and it is our wedding anniversary today. Had we known St. Patricks Day was such a big deal in the USA we wouldn't have picked March 17th for our wedding, but there ya go, Luck of the Irish. Have a good one folks.
Hum!!! I wonder if I added a rose scent to the rose painting it will seduce the public into buying it.
Trivia
Beauty contests ban seductive aromas"Aug 28,1922 Perfume, sweet-smelling face powder and flowers having a “burden of perfume” will be barred from Atlantic City’s fall pageant at the suggestion of Hudson Maxim, who will portray “Father Neptune” during the carnival. The 19 shore beauties who will form Neptune’s court consented at a “war council” today to form an anti-scent guard about Neptune. Miss America, Queen of Beauty, will have her looks accentuated solely by flowers which lack the olfactory powers of seducing the public and the judges."

Happy Anniversary. Had you a clue back then that you would end up in the states?
Althea is my middle name! I was named after my aunt.
No, never imagined I would end up here. The way things were going for a while I thought I would end up running a chicken farm in Turkey :)
Happy St. Patty's Lone Beader. I was in my Alice Neel obsession at the time I painted the legs. Love the blue outlines.
Anyhoo, I love that painting! What's great about it I think, is how it brings back that story to you. You can look at it and remember what it was about. The person who buys it, will be able to tell that story to others. What a great piece to start interesting conversation! :)
Great picture too...love it. Especially those blue outlines...
great piece.
Hope you celebrated in style...
Hugs,
Sue
Happy Feet is wonderful. I did an internship with an artist who painted a portrait of Alice Neel. I sort of remember that he ran in similar cirlces as her back in the 60's-70's in NYC.
take care,

Thanks for dropping by the blog. I know what you mean about your love being richer now. My wife and I have been married for thirty-two years and and our love is fuller, more interesting, more comforting, and yes, more exciting than ever before.
God bless!
