The Tortured Artist

selfie in knitted hat
Here I am NOT doing any art (like painting) and man it is bugging me, but I can't seem to be bothered and that BOTHERS me! I did have fun tying to get a semi flattering pic of me wearing my Hippie Hat look though.
oil painting on wood with quote

sold several moons ago and happily hanging on a gallery owners own wall
Since this is an art blog I will put up a piece of work besides myself. I said I can't do text on paintings, but this is one of those RARE occasions where I did it and was quite happy with the results. I liked the quote and was experimenting with collage and acrylic on poplar wood.

According to this test I am normal and have no artistic ability LOL! Somehow I don't believe it, I feel quite the tortured artist at the moment and it ain't 17%. Somehow I can't help but think the impatient blogger might appreciate the acronym fuali-hee! hee!

I am 17% Tortured Artist.Art? I know a guy named Art.
I should be happy. I have a normal life. I have no artistic ability and I am not cursed with the realiztion that everyone is an idiot, because I am one.

love the hat, more people should wear hats and dare to wear hats that are funky, unusual, daring. hats are fun, hats are warm, hats jazz, hats tell a little about you, hats even at times hide.

I have some great hats and that was is a great one indeed!

thanks colette, I feel like I should be called Helga when I wear it :)

I would love to be added to the viral thing...just tell me again how I am supposed to use it? HA! I'll figure it out. I love that artwork with the words on it, but of course I would, I do it all the time. Great photo, love the HAT! My favorite winter hat is a thermal jesters hat, I took the bells off the ends, because they drove me mad, but I still wear it all the time because it has funky ear flaps that cover my earrings (3 in one ear 4 in the other and stainless steel hand made hoops too) and keeps me from screaming in the cold weather. I hate the cold. It always makes people smile and lauge when I wear it, I don't care, I like it.

Well, I got a nice bump yesterday @ StatCounter, but can't really pin it on the A.L.Letter, yet. I noticed you picked up some hits @ Technorati (I'm not spying, but it comes through one of these thing-a-majiggeys)because of the ALL. Good on 'ya.
I have one of those alpaca hats. I bought it way too small and stretched it on a coffee can - fits like a charm, now.
My favorite hat to be somebody new? Cowboy hat!

Casey, thanks for letting me know as I wasn't sure it was working :) cool!

hmbt, if you follow the link at the bottom casey explains how it works. Basically you just copy and paste and add at the end of some of your posts, just change the host name to you. I love seeing people wear hats and especially when they are a little funky :)

Lincoln, I like your green slogan, brought a smile to my face :) Glad you like the photos, I was going for that gauzy Hollywood effect for the self portrait lol!

26% here -- which kind of surprised me by the questions that were asked.

You look good in the hat.

You do some fun stuff, Jafabrit! I am glad the hat photo is a part of that,

It seems to be that time of year when there is so much before us we cannot get motivated. But last night I decided to pop into the studio for just a moment...and it sucked me in!

It will all come back to us once the madness is over!

Do you mind if I link to this blog on my blog site?

Hahaha! I took that test, too.

I am 49% tortured artist. It said I have some artistic ability, but it is probably a hobby and doesn't drive my life into a dark abysmal hole were I am alone and against the world.

Perhaps, but I'm getting there... LOL.

22 %. Gotta work on that...

Tortured - not according to my thumbscrews!
not Helga, possibly Hilda O (corry u know, the street), looking back after writing that its not meant as an insult merely a play on words (I must be feeling poorly!)
A good hat is to be worn with intention ( i recently wore a grandpa's hat to a relations wedding, caused a stir - head of the family/next generation (not an intended pun, but a good one nevertheless!)(positive one)

question: did you start off with the text and produced an image from it or image then added the text as a comment?

my god lone beader you are doing good LOL! almost halfway.

thorngren, that is amy winehouse and she has a fabulous voice, alas a bit of a tortured personal life.

Paul, Hilda O, ROFLOL, not insulted coz it made me laugh. She was a bloody riot. My mam rolls her eyes when that show comes one and says, "oh here with go with constipation street, I'm off to bed".

I think I have it in my sketchbook, but it all started with the quote and I had done several images based around edith sitwell as a result, but this was the first time I tried to put a quote with an image. will show you my edith sitwell page of my sketchbook in another blog entry.

hum 22% casey, you got to work on it too ;)

her mural wall was fab, watched 5mins the oher night - nothing like the 'street i remember as a kid - Stan, Annie, and the one that drank stout with hair net!
yep, link me to the viral, anything new I'll 'ave a go
use of text in work adds a further dimension that people who have little visual literacy can access as words are everday things eg papers, books, posters, billboards etc I usually have words banding around and images slide off from there

The painting - ain't that the truth??

Hah, I'm a tortured artist, but not really, it's just what the test said.

What's the viral link tag? Should I be scared - the tortured artist in me wants to be added to the viral mix. I love mixing it up!

Off to go booth sit in the indie craft fair - where I have to get a little more creative with my attire - it's way too hip for me. Can I borrow your hat?
jafabrit said…
cynthia, Casey explains on his blog. It helps that everyone copies and pastes the tag, add their own name as host and put my link on their tag. Just a way of helping each other.

I love coming here, you can always make me laugh! (and lately I really need to laugh) We seem to be thinking along the same lines so often. This week my epiphany is- They are crazy and I'm not. When you think of it, it answers a lot of questions, like why do people spend tons of money buying crappy art when they don't buy my stuff which is not crappy or expensive? Anyway, I love your piece from the past, it's great that someone who gets art, loves it AND bought it.

I have a pink fleece hat like this I wear all winter...I think you look quite lovely.

HAHAHAHAHA! That's a good acronym indeed. I'm feeling a lack of motivation today myself.

I think (looking at the photos of yourself that you are posting) that girls just wanna have fun. What is all this art stuff anyway. I think we only get tortured when we take it way too seriously. My favorite time as an artist was when I had little responsibility as a student, didn't feel guilty about staying up at night, and just drew and painted for the fun of it.
By the way it's great to see the real Corrine, without your tongue in the way. - Have fun and art will follow naturally.

I apologise for all my art comments on every page in the blogosphere, because I am an art loser. Here are my results from the tortured artist test:
I am 28% Tortured Artist.

I know Art, I just don't live it.

You have some artistic ability, but it is probably a hobby and doesn't drive your life into a dark abysmal hole were you alone are against the world.

I think I will go out and eat paint. A cadmium and titanium blamange with smeared lips.

Okay, done - I just didn't have time yesterday...:D

I got up to 56% on the Tortured Artist test-- and I didn't even have to be a drug addict, smoke, or be gay. You've got to walk on the bitter side to score big.
Lynette said…
Aww gee Corinne, you look really cute in your hippy hat! oh boy, now to go take the test but I already know I'm a 'tortured artist' LOL!!
Lynette said…
Mine was 42% :)

I used to have an Alpaca hat like that.
(It's nice to be back, after a week in the computer hospital!)

The hat is nice because it gives focus to your face and your face is terrific I must say. Your face reflects a curiosity and knowledge of our nonphysical being which in turn gives life to what you call art, which in reality is energy reflected from our nonphysical bodies......HUH?
