Graffiti Girl Embroidery

hand embroidery on linen, acrylic paint, fabric pen, beads embroidery floss
long & short stitches, satin stitch,

Phew!
It's finished, well all except HOW I'm going to hang it. I'm leaning towards stretching it over an oval panel rather than just hanging loosely on a wall. I'm thinking of the contrast between graffiti going up fast and being ephemeral and hand embroidery being slow and meant to last. It's based on a painting of my daughter that is part of the JafaWorkz Collective Project.

The large black areas are all hand stitched with one strand of embroidery floss. I particularly enjoyed the challenge of mixing the paint and embroidery on the eyes.

thanks Claire. I am okay with most of it, but one eye I didn't get exactly how I wanted. I really should have checked it at the drawing stage, but oh well. I can live with it :)
