I will be exhibiting 3 pieces in an invited group exhibit titled Drawing in Thread: Contemporary Embroidery at the Gallery at Mount Ida College curated by Professors John Tricomi and Kathleen Discoll. flipping eck' and WOW! am I in good company. I feel quite awed and humbled as I really admire these artists and have talked of a few here on occasion. Andrea Dezso is one such artist whose talents are NOT confined to one medium. If you have a chance to look at her website you will see her sketchbooks and sculptures. I adore Takashi Iwasaki's work, especially the embroidery on black, just sumptuous. It's hard to pick a favourite really because each artist brings such a unique vision technically and conceptually.
Here is one of the pieces they chose for the exhibit.
"Bone of Contention"
What a Multimedia Artist Means
It means like many contemporary artists, such as those listed above in the exhibit, my language of expression is not limited to one medium. So, no, I am not quitting painting or anything else just because I am a wee bit obsessed with embroidery
Top 10 Characteristics of an Art Snob
HUM!
9: Really
8: Oh no, now I'm really in trouble, and guess what someone once thought I was faking it.
and the rest I just have never had to deal with.
It just doesn't seem typical in my experience, does it in yours?
