Skull Embroidery

It took me a while to get up the courage to do the face and arms but after examining medieval and ecclesiastical embroidery I got up the courage. Mary Corbet's site at Needle'n Thread is probably one of the BEST for exploring embroidery of this nature.

I have only been to the US once - my wife spoke at an education conference in Orlando, so I got a ride in her suitcase. Fortunately for me I went to the Miami gallery and saw a photo exhibition - all large format B&W originals of Frida Kahlo. Next time I will go to Ohio and visit the Embroidery Kahlo of Yellow Springs.

Your skulldrugery paid off!

I think the skins came out well, but I'm most partial to the colorful birds. : )

I have only seen one of her paintings in the real David and I was astonished at how small it was, BUT how powerful.
If you and the wife come you have a place to stay :)

Art, I am with you, I like the birds the most.
Hi there,

Great work !
Now you can stop painting :-)
This reminds me that there's a knitting exhibition on the streets of France, if I'm not mistaken.

Take care,

José
