Stuff, Scary and Otherwise

SCARY FACES

"12 steps to nowhere"
12" x 12" oil on canvas

I liked this painting OnCe, BUT now I really really don't like it.
I'm glad it isn't in my house otherwise I would cut it up or paint over it.
You ever feel like that about a piece of work?
I called it 12 steps to nowhere because it was based on the story of the first great migration north by African Americans in which many trying t
o escape the tyranny in the south found it on a roadside ditch traveling up north.

SCARY STORIES
eek

Stuff in the Studio
OH! I came up with a title for my embroidery
"the prick who came to dinner"
It sort of alludes to a once famous play called "the man who came to dinner"
about Sheridan Whiteside, an "insufferably arrogant radio personality"

THE OTHERWISE PART

Got most of the knit graffiti up, just need to add a few more flowers, but rain thwarted the jafagirls efforts and we had to make a dash for it.

Well Carpe Diem folks

Was coming back from lunch yesterday and saw you there in front of the laundry-mat fixin' to get your 'knit graffiti'on.

I love all the stuff you do!!! I'm a total groupie!!!

hee hee Teresa, thanks :)

So you want to add some knitting to the knit knot tree when we get it started up again in the fall?

Hiay Misato,
thanks for dropping by and commenting.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I'm there!
I think may of us have that impulse to re-do older works. We just get better and better :) I wouldn't tamper with that fellow though - He looks just fine and if you botched the job you'd find yourself brought up on artistic malpractice charges. Great bench - need to get Esqaulita to model there.

Hum, Bill that would be very fitting wouldn't it, to have a skeleton sitting on a bench that says carpe diem LOL!

Uh...12 steps...I don't know if going forward gets better or not. My Higher Power, in conjunction with Mother Nature, has been working and re-working MY face for some decades now. From what I can tell, the more they fiddle-faddle around, the more out of sync it becomes. If I could have been a critic, I would've advised...hey...let's don't go TOO far with this - 30 years ago!

Uh...Ralph again. Just let me add, no need to invite me for dinner. (grin) I'd be happy with just a coffee at a sidewalk table or something. (where I could smoke.)

I am getting there with the face ralph, one year it was fine and then the next (what the hell happened) cursed gravity dragged me jowls down to me kneecaps (okay I exaggerate).

why a sidewalk cafe, coffee and a fag, sounds delightful :)

Knit graffiti! That's a pretty cool idea. It's a big contrast between the newness of graffiti as an artform, and the classic, almost cliche, nature of needlework.

I've seen that woman w/the plastic surgery problems on a couple of shows on TV. She's really NOT playing with a full deck...
That said, yes, sometimes I look back at some of my paintings & wonder, "How did I EVER think that was any good?" Unfortunately I'm on the verge of giving up the whole ball of wax...again...for the 3rd & last time.
