M is for Mouse

"give me the cheese"

Gosh who knew there were so many felt mice, they are just adorable.
I had two white pet mice once, my gosh what smelly little things, but very useful for releasing and scaring aunties' and babysitters.
My fave kind of mouse is a dormouse.
We had one that used to pop up his head behind the sink and watch mum wash the dishes when we lived in Hetton-le-Hole. Wasn't scared at all, just sat there and watched.

M is for Mum

For this page I collaged a photograph of my mother, stitched mum on some felt and soaked the felt with her favourite perfume, Safari by Ralph Lauren.
I have a bottle in the house and take a whiff now and again and then feel sad.
I wish we didn't live so far away from each other.

Oh my gosh, what you wrote about your mother, my heart skipped a beat, and now quite truly is pained. I am even shaking a bit. I am so sorry. But what you wrote about your collage, and the felt, and perfume and what you do, this has to be the sweetest most poignant thing. I was wondering, at the top of your page, your header, is that your mother? The painting? It looks like her, but it could be you. Again, I am so sorry.

don't be sorry tsl, I didn't mean to give the impression my mother is no longer here. My mum lives in England but I haven't seen her for a few years. It is very very hard as I miss her as much today as I did the day I left England 30 years ago.

thank you so much though tsl, I appreciate your thoughful comments.

The painting is called shadowsongs is represents the women past and present in my life. that you saw my mother in the painting tells me I have achieved that. The girl in the chair is really my daughter, my mother, and myself all rolled into one.

Well being that you're at 'm' it seems fitting I should stop in to say hello, I've missed you, I'm sorry I've been MIA. As always, your prolific outpouring of amazing art is mind boggling.

Well now, I can breath a sigh of relief! I thought your mother had passed and you were doing this wonderful thing to remember her by. I am overjoyed this wonderful thing you are doing is because she lives, and smelling her perfume gives you a sense of her even though she is so far away.

I felt sad when I read that too, and wondered if your Mum had passed away. What a lovely way to feel near to her.

I'm not sure what things remind me of my Mum, but there are so many things that remind me of my Nan! Porridge, lavender, foxes glacier mints, and banana sandwiches!

Gosh maybe I need to reword my blog post eek!

How appropriate...I just realized the other day that we have a mouse in our house. I hate setting traps & all of that, but I can't have mice running around, either. <:(
Sorry about the distance from your Mom. Perhaps you need to take a trip home at some point.
