Why is that when one is caught out being offensive they make the claim that it is art?
Selling a cookie called the drunken negro face cookie is NOT ART!
Even if it was , err, is that supposed to make it okay?
The Art of stereotyping through art/posters/merchandise

but the real question is.. is that chocolate? and can we eat it?
LOL!
ok, kidding aside,, so not cool.
This is outrageous, offensive, immature and crass. Worse still when you think there are 1 billion people who go hungry in this world. This is in honour of nothing except prejudice.
Offensive or not, I'd have a hard time calling that art!
It is offensive though, and having a Cuban brother inlaw doesn't mean he can't be racist. In our family we have West Indian, Indian, Norwegian, Hungarian, Arabian... and my brother is still racist.
I agree Philip, it's immature. Racism is so... backwards. I can't even think of a word for it.
Art, not art...Who's to say anymore? All I know is, I'd eat that. *L*
interesting to see that he just thought it was innocent fun. like most beliefs it is very difficult changing them for the person and the beliefs are irrationally intertwined and like we see with religion will fight to the end to believe what they believe.
I dunno, I think if he just called it "a drunken man cookie" no one would bat an eyelid and the colour wouldn't matter because it's just chocolate, but the fact that he called it "a drunken negro cookie" is just completely unnecessary. Why does race even need come into it? It's just a cookie. It's an excuse to be racist. If it was really in honour of Obama he should have called them Obama cookies, which of course he couldn't because they look nothing like him. Hell, they hardly look human. He's obviously a really crap baker/cookie decorator.
Yes, I've had a drink :P
In very poor taste.
I am just shaking my head and agreeing with all of your comments.
I'll go along with Undaunted, "drunken man cookie" is a close approximation, it hardly looks human, barely recognizable as a human face. I might have bought a drunken Irishman or Polack cookie, though, apologies to my relatives.
A thoughtless marketing gimmick?
