Jan's got a Big Mouth

NOT

Photo of "keep your big mouth shut" by Jan Jackson
Sketchbook Project Page
This is Jan, one of the original JafaGirls (now in Albuquerque running her gallery Dreamscapes) and a photo I took of a piece of art she created for the "is it art" event Nancy, Deb and myself ran a few years back. The writing says "I never wanted Jan to keep her mouth shut-she rocks!"

I did a pencil drawing on the top half, a photo collaged on the bottom half, then I painted with black gesso around the drawing and photo then covered with crystal glaze (I use the brush on type, not the spray).

Yikes! This piece brings back memories!

I once underwent a 9-hour surgery, followed by nearly 7 weeks of having my jaws wired shut.

That was my first thought when I saw this.

JB, get OUTTA my head, woman!

I'm really enjoying seeing every page of this sketch book! This is great!

Love the teeth! I've always been fascinated with dentures. I remember trying as a child to take my Granny's dentures out of the glass on the bathroom sink and my mom scolding me to never bother Granny's teeth.
And I love this drawing. Can't wait to hear you on dirty-Footprints!

I have been thinking about this one for a couple of days and think the teeth are quite frightening in the sense that they look as though they might eat someone alive! I'm sure your friend is not like that!

No she isn't philip but it is a mean comment from a loved one that inspired her to make this piece.

Very effective piece of art, Corinne! The black works well to tie it together.

She must be quite a talker! (Some pair of choppers, there!)

That's a "telling" portrait of Jan.

Since Dreamscapes is so close by, I will have to check it out. I believe you told me about that gallery some time ago and I forgot. My memory these days BITES.
