Reverse Painting on Plastic

This was one of my favourite pieces that I really enjoyed doing and had no plans of selling.
It found a home with a special lady, now in Chicago (yoo hoo! hope you are enjoying your new life-you are missed).
About the Painting

It is a mixture of collage (using modge podge), and acrylic paint on a lucite shelf I got from a Liquidation Outlet in Dayton Ohio. They were selling boxes of these for 25 cents apiece. Of course I went mad and bought a gazillion and who knows if I will ever use them all LOL!

Wow, I can't even begin to imagine how dificult it is to do a reverse painting. Yours are great.

Isn't Mod Podge the greatest?!?! Love that stuff! Can't get enough of it!!!

My sweetie, Hansel, keeps coming back to your blog to check out your sculls..he has a little obsession...with sculls...and I don't know...maybe your blog too!!! He made his own scull drawing yesterday inspired by you!

An intriguing piece of work. :) Do you have problems with acrylic paint peeling from or scratching off of the lucite? I've never found acrylic paint to be very effective on a smooth surface, personally. Just wondering about your experience/thoughts...

lana, I haven't had that problem, usually because I seal the back after I have painted them, or the back is protected when mounted into a box frame. I suppose if I was to paint on the front of the plastic it would be a problem since its exposed. Are you talking about paint ON plastic or doing reverse painting?

Very cool, I would like to learn to paint in this way. I can see why you would have wanted to keep it, it's got a big voice. :) I really like the collage and paint together, I don't think I have ever seen a reverse done in this way, of course it would be you to show it to me, of course!
