Heart paintings and Skatepark fest

You're reading art by corrine bayraktaroglu originally posted on Jafabrit's Art.

Thank you for dropping by.

Oh yes! this jafa loves hearts :) I think I will make a couple of them for the guest room, and the others are for the exhibit in October at IN A FRAME gallery in Yellow Springs.
Unfortunately due to copyright theft I had to delete my flickr account which is why you don't see an image, and I can't remember which heart painting I had on here :(

Did I mention I hate my stupid bloody wooden kimono?

skate park-art-music fest

I will be the first to admit I am not a great photographer. I use my camera for my art, to document images etc, but not professional style photographs. I am pleased with the action shots considering my amateur abilities though. It was fun watching the skateboarders, and hear live bands. As a member of the YS Arts Council I was there to help out with the skate-art-music-fest that the Yellow Springs Arts Council and Yellow Springs Human Relations Commission cosponsored. One of the jafa's (Deb) and her husband basically pulled together the whole thing, PHEW!
I loved the superman toy watching a local teen band called the "bloody shelalies" (think that's what they were called).

Corrine ... I just love these hearts!! You clever thing. And for once I am not having trouble leaving a comment .... which is why you don't hear from me as much as I would like!

Who said 'less is more'? Not in this case darling. I love them in mutiples. You should make more. And what's this about a wood kimono-surely you meant wool kimono? Crikey- the splinters!

thanks lesly :) lone beader:) noonan, I am making a full size copy of a patchwork 60's quilt. Each piece is cut out of mdf, painted and stitched together with plastic coated wire. Had I thought about the logistics and weight, as well as other irritating minor details I would NEVER have started it lol! I think the hearts do look good as a set, although I will be selling them individually. If I have time I might do another set and frame them as a set.

I was stunned, this morning, when I realized where you live. Yellow Springs, Ohio. Now I am laughing.

I really enjoyed your post today as I got to see some places I had not seen in years.

A long time ago, when the JVS first started, Wally Gossett and I and several others used to come to eat lunch at the college cafeteria.

You would know all about NCR then.

You must have eaten at the cafeteria a long time ago when the food was decent ;)

I know a little about ncr and it's history as a major employer in the area. We first lived here in 78, then in 92 and have been back in ys 5 years. In between those years we have lived in Maryland, Texas and New Jersey. Glad you enjoyed the post. Check out the arts blog I run for the arts council, have a slide show with some photos of ys.

Love the hearts too - a nice spin on the theme. And your doll sitting ever so non-chalantly next to the heart is great!

I'm fascinated by skateboarding, snow boarding and I just read about this new thing called - oh I can't find the name anymore and I've already recylced the paper. It's this activity where people take the most direct path to their destination, which may mean various acrobatic activities. It looks really neat - and obviously for people in much better shape than myself.

I know what you are talking about cynthia, I've seen video's of it. I think the trend started in France and is very popular in Europe. It is amazing and had I been young I don't doubt I would have been doing it myself. Glad you like the hearts.

Love the hearts. Ooh. Embrace the kimono. This is all about its provenance! Write notes on the backside of it for posterity!

I appreciate your response. It has been a long time but the last time we ate there was in 1968. And I didn't pay for the meal. Wally did. So it was good.

I published some of my computer generated art from a long time ago today on my blog. Brookville Daily Photo

Nice collection of hearts... I'm also not quite good in photography and I just have a simple digital camera. However, you can play around with the colors and contrast of the background to bring out your subject. You can use brighter wall or sky if the subject is darker.

p/s: Thanks for adding my link... ;D

Love, love, love, love the hearts. Really.

Multiples look super...

The kimono is superb but I can imagine the amount of work it is taking.

Hugs,
Sue
